What is the best type of life insurance to get and from where or who?

I am looking to start saving some money and I am trying to find the best way to do it. I am only 21 but after losing my job and having no extra cash I found out how important it is to have some saved up. I know nothing about life insurance except for the fact that you put money away to save it. And apart from how who would you recommend I go to like what company?
